Mission Statement:
To be the premier Painting Union Contractors Association optimizing relations between Labor and Management towards the positive growth of the finishing industry.

The Northern California Painting and Finishing Contractors, Inc. (NCPFC) represents union painting and wall covering contractors. Our primary purpose is to represent and promote the best interests of our members in all areas of labor relations.
We also keep members informed about current business trends, provide a place for members to go for legislation and regulatory issues, and provide educational training programs for owners and their office personnel.

A Letter From The President:

Alan Bjerke: President NCPFC, and Owner of George E. Masker Inc.

The third quarter of 2008 has been very busy for the Northern California Painting and Finishing Contractors Association. First I would like to say “Thank You” to all those who participated in our Annual Golf Tournament which was a “Sell Out” this year. Our recent San Francisco Giants “Union Night” had over 100 people participating. The “Sexual Harassment” seminar for supervisors drew 43 people.  We are currently working on preparations for our Annual Meeting which will be held at 5677 Horton Street, in Emeryville, California on October 16th at 3:30pm. All painting contractors are invited and encouraged to attend. The nomination committee has met and the ballots are awaiting the final candidates to be decided by your input.

Our “Where in the World is NCPFC”, a program developed to facilitate the NCPFC staff visiting every signatory contractor in the next year has been active. They recently visited a number of companies including: Romano’s Painting, Darden Painting, City Painting, Molina’s Painting, Redwood Painting, Nunn Better Painting, Dietlin Painting, Gugel/Today Painting, Koreen Brothers Painting, Basco Drywall & Painting, Shepherd & Sons Painting and Bruce Painting.

John Kusper and I attended a meeting with the DC 16 regarding the STAR Program. We will have more information on this at the Annual Meeting. We continue to be involved with other Associations. We recently had lunch with Stuart Binstock the new president of the FCA and John Silva. In the Bay Area, most recently, John Kusper attended a Northern California Drywall Contractors Associations event on August 4, 2008.

I would like to welcome the new signatory painting contractors added to the DC 16 list since our last newsletter. They include: De Martinez Painting Inc., Q.I.C. Inc., Agallas Painting Co., American Coatings, Ashley H. Rhodes Company, Olympic Contractor, Can-Am Services, Capital City Development, Douglas Dean Painting, F.D. Thomas Inc. (Sacramento), Jonas & Associates Inc., Kaiser Construction Services, Greenbrea Management, Lucas Painting, Pacific Racing/Golden Gate, and Specialty Coatings Inc.

As President of NCPFC, Inc., I would also like to extend a very special welcome to Ashley H. Rhodes who is the latest to join our list of Active Members.

Note:  The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that for the period August 2007 through August 2008 the consumer price index for all urban consumers, the U.S. City Average, increased 5.37% while the S.F. Bay Area Average increased 4.24%.
